hardware reality

This web server is being run on a headless Mac LC, otherwise known as danita.pairoducks.com, tucked away in a closet. The software is MacHTTP 2.0.

picture of computer in closet The LC is the vertical box with the arrow pointing at it. As you can see, there is no monitor or keyboard attached (though there is the requisite mouse). All access is through the network and the power switch.

The original Mac LC is an mc68020 machine, with a 16-bit bus and a single, 16-bit "processor direct" expansion slot (which in this case is occupied by an ethernet card). Danita has 10MB of RAM and a 40MB hard drive; the drive is accessable via Appletalk, which allows modification of these web pages from a remote Macintosh.
